Family Support Network

What is the Family Support Network (FSN)?

This unique program is designed to help families of individuals with developmental disabilities (DD) with the everyday tasks they are unable to complete because of their care-giving responsibilities.

Why is the FSN Important?

Numerous studies on the needs of people caring for individuals with DD, consistently indicate that respite care and assistance with the day-to-day tasks are the keys to helping these struggling families survive. Without aid, families and caregivers often suffer from feelings of isolation, loneliness, depression and hopelessness. In Oregon alone, there are over 60,000 people with DD, and nearly that many families needing help with the essential tasks of everyday life.

What services does the FSN Provide?

FSN provides a wide variety of services such as housekeeping, grocery shopping, gardening and yard work, friendly phone calls, legal advice, and many other things. If someone has a need, we will try to meet it! FSN does not provide any direct financial support to families.

Who can utilize the FSN?

Any individual or family caring for an individual with DD may request our help.

Are there costs involved?

No, in most cases FSN services are provided free of charge.

Who staffs the FSN?

Although FSN is headed by QWO’s Program Director, the actual services are provided by numerous volunteers with training, expertise and experience in many areas of service.

How can I help?

Most importantly, please pray that God will continue to bless this ministry. In addition, if you know of a caregiver that could benefit from our services, or a volunteer that would be willing to donate their time to helping these caregivers, please call QWO at 503-620-8288. No prior experience in working with individuals with DD is necessary.

How do I request help from the FSN?

If you are a caregiver with a need, let us help you! Please contact us at 503-620-8288 or email. We look forward to helping you and your family!
